Broadcast Freelancer has been designed to help freelancers find work and aid production companies in their search for staff. It allows anyone involved in television production - from runners to series producers - to host their CV online, access a jobs board and an online news and information service.

Broadcast Freelancer has the support of more than 100 top production companies including RDF Media, Endemol, Darlow Smithson, Tiger Aspect and Talkback Thames.

Will Strauss, the editor of the new service, said: "We've spent a long time talking to freelancers and employers to make sure Broadcast Freelancer serves this increasingly important market."

Talkback Thames chief executive Lorraine Heggessey commented: "Broadcast Freelancer is a welcome addition to the recruitment process at a time when there are more and more freelance posts available. It will be an invaluable tool in matching the right production talent to the right programmes and in an industry that's based on creativity and talent, this is crucial."
