CBBC is to explore the amazing events that take place around the world every minute as part of a factual series dubbed "QI for kids".
The 13 x 30-minute One Minute Wonders is Unique TV's first ever kids commission. It will deliver minute-long funny stories about things that happen during that time period, such as the Royal Mint printing 2,852 new coins or the Earth gaining 168 tonnes in weight.
Each episode will combine archive footage from BBC Worldwide's BBC Motion Gallery, with animation produced by Karrot Entertainment. Voiceovers will be provided by actor David Schneider.
One Minute Wonders is produced by James Meurer and executive produced by Mike Brosnan of Unique. It was ordered by Anne Gilchrist, controller of CBBC.
The series is scheduled to air early next year and there will be a dedicated website which Brosnan described as a YouTube for kids. "They can watch the clips online and then get recommendation for other related topics," he said.
