Welsh indie Green Bay Media is to make a 60-minute broadcast pilot for National Geographic and ITV Wales about how modern technology is saving and restoring glories of the ancient world.
The pilot for the Rescuing the Past series will follow work involved in saving and restoring the famous Step Pyramid in Saqqara, Egypt. It has been co-commissioned as a provisional 3 x 30-minute project for ITV Wales by managing director Ellis Owen. The commissioner for Nat Geo was executive vice-president of content Sydney Suissa. It will be produced and directed by Amanda Rees and executive produced by creative director Phil George for Green Bay.
Meanwhile, ex-GMTV managing director Paul Corley will join the board of Green Bay Media as a non-executive director. Corley resigned last year after six years following the discovery that staff at GMTV's telecoms service provider Opera had selected finalists' names for premium rate competitions before lines had closed, unbeknown to GMTV.
