This TV writer and playwright also has a rock'n'roll sideline as the bassist in upcoming band Mr Hudson and the Library, which has supported Amy Winehouse in concert.
According to his agent, French's writing tends to be loaded with subtext, as demonstrated in his 2004 play Bear Hug, about a son who returns to the family home as a bear.
His collaboration with writing partner Kieron Quirke started on the ABC Family kids animation Slackercats.
The duo have since gone on to create comedy dramas on both sides of the Atlantic including Trinity for ITV2 and Roomates for ABC Family/Disney.
