Beat the Star, the entertainment format fronted by Vernon Kay on ITV1, is set to be remade for audiences in China.
SevenOne International, the distribution arm of German channel Sat.1, is distributing the format - known internationally as Beat Your Host - around the world, and has assigned the Chinese rights to Hong Kong-based distributor Idea Asia Ltd.
Sevenone has already placed several TV shows in the Chinese market including a dubbed version of the Sat.1 science show Clever on Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, and the knowledge magazine show Galileo, also airing on state TV.
It brings the amount of territories where the entertainment format has been sold to 13. In the UK, the show was re-named Beat the Star and was fronted by Vernon Kay.
It was originally produced by German indie Brainpool for Sat.1 and featured contestants battling against the host in various tasks to win a €500,000 cash prize.
