ITN secures Asian news agency deal

Asian News International – the company that has been producing much of the footage of the Mumbai terrorism attacks – has signed an exclusive representation deal with ITN Source.

Under the deal, ITN will hold the rights to licence all ANI's content on all platforms globally, including the Asian Film libraries which date back to the late 1930s.

ANI has 100 bureaus in India and South Asia, and 5,000 clips featuring entertainment, sports, news, lifestyle and quirky content have already been digitised and uploaded to ITN's archives.

ITN Source content director Asha Oberoi said that the addition of ANI footage would help expand its corporate and education clip offerings across Asia, particularly China.

"We've been looking to build up our Asian content for some time and ANI is the perfect partner with its mix of news, Bollywood and unusual videos," she said.

"The addition of ANI significantly expands the global content base we represent and will deliver even greater value to our customers' content needs."

ITN Source already represents footage from Reuters, Granada, Channel 4, UTV and Fox.
