CITV acquires CGI series

CITV has acquired preschool series Bo on the Go! from Decode Enterprises, the DHX Media-owned children's and entertainment distributor.

The 40 x 22-minute CGI series follows the adventures of the "positive, energetic and inquisitive young heroine" Bo and her dragon friend Dezzy. It encourages children to be physically active, by asking them to copy specific movements that will help Bo and Dezzy on their quest.

Emma Tennant, controller of ITV3 and CITV, said: "Parents often feel guilty about the time children spend watching TV, so we have a responsibility to those parents to make sure we develop a trust that we can educate and entertain their children and Bo on the Go! ticks all of those boxes.

"I am thrilled to have acquired a programme that not only promotes an active lifestyle but also instils an active mind in children from an early age."

The series, produced by Decode's sister company Halifax Films, launched in Canada on CBC, where it is one of the broadcaster's best performing preschool offerings and was recently commissioned for a third series.

It has also achieved strong international sales, including to France 5, Cartoon Network in Asia, Disney Channel Spain, KidsTalkTalk in Korea and the Arabic language version of Al Jazeera Children's Channel.

Decode president Neil Court said: "We're incredibly pleased to have CITV as our UK broadcast home for Bo. In her irresistible way, Bo encourages kids to get up and get moving, a very timely theme for preschool broadcasters around the world."
