Music charts have gone interactive in a kids show that airs across Europe.
The format
Kids Top 20 is a weekly half-hour live action music show for kids aged from six to 12.
Every week children vote for their favourite music on the Kids Top 20 website, building up a chart.
Based on these polls, the TV music chart is produced. The show is recorded in a different primary school location each week, with each episode commencing with the building of the Kids Top 20 studio set inside the classroom. The presenter chats with the kids about music, fashion, lifestyle, latest trends and the current Kids Top 20 music chart. Local and overseas celebrity guests appear on the show.
Who's showing it?
It has been on air for four years in Belgium, Finland, Germany and the Netherlands and has recently been launched in France. It will next be launched in Australia in February of next year on Channel 9.
Coming to the UK?
The format is currently being pitched to UK broadcasters by Lazarus Media which has recently been appointed as the exclusive UK agent for the show. All UK rights are still available.
Could it work here?
It could do. The novel idea of setting it in a different school each week could work well and there's plenty of potential for building a strong brand around the show.
