ITV Global Entertainment has agreed its first exclusive output deal since rebranding, signing up former Five head of programmes Dan Chambers' indie, Blink Films.
Blink has had 15 programmes on air in its first year and is now broadening its portfolio into factual entertainment. The deal gives the distributor all rights to its shows.
Among the titles are Five documentaries Married to the Eiffel Tower and My Car is My Lover, as well as programmes yet to be announced including a feature-length primetime science special and a feature-length Cutting Edge, both for C4.
ITV Global Entertainment head of factual Richard Life said the distributor had fended off significant competition to secure the partnership. "Their [Chambers and Kershaw] reputation means they win commissions from all the major broadcasters - not just here in the UK," he said.
Chambers was head of programmes at Five between 2003 and 2006, when he was responsible for shows such as Suburban Shootout, The Gadget Show and Banged Up Abroad. Before that, he was the channel's controller of factual.
Kershaw has also been controller of factual at Five, covering science, history, arts, wildlife and factual acquisitions.
The pair launched Blink in May 2007.
