MIPCOM: BBC1 drama Merlin is set to air in Germany after the country's biggest commercial broadcaster, RTL, picked up the series from FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME).
The packaged deal also includes New Wave Entertainment's 13 x 60-minute Australian crime drama, The Strip, which premiered during primetime on Nine Network Australia recently.
The series was the number one programme of its time period across all demographics and went out during primetime on Nine Network Australia. The sale was brokered by FME's vice president of German-speaking and Eastern Europe sales, Veronica Gracher, and RTL's Dr. Dirk Schwietzer.
In separate deals, FME has also announced a further three pre-sales of Merlin to Mediaset in Italy, SVT in Sweden and Ned in the Netherlands.
These follow earlier pre-sales to NBC in the US, CTV in Canada and Network Ten in Australia.
Mediaset, the largest broadcaster in Italy, is to air the show in 2009.
"It's great to see this level of enthusiasm for a show ahead of its launch," said FME chief executive officer, David Ellender. "We feel Merlin is worthy of the hype which has preceded its debut at Mipcom and are very much looking forward to introducing the brand to more buyers during the market."
Merlin was created and produced by Shine Television.
