The UK leads the way in this year's International Emmy Awards with eight nominations – five of them for Channel 4.
The Beckoning Silence, Darlow Smithson's follow-up to Touching the Void, is up for best documentary, while Talkback Thames' The IT Crowd is nominated for best comedy and Daybreak Pictures' two-part drama Britz has a nomination for best TV movie/miniseries.
Also in the running in the arts category is Ballet Boyz Productions' Strictly Bolshoi, while actress Lucy Cohu is nominated for her role in C4 and More 4's child abuse drama Forgiven, made by Betty TV.
Other UK nods in this year's awards go to the BBC. David Suchet is in the running for best actor for the lead role in BBC2's Maxwell, while Kudos' Life on Mars is nominated for best drama series and CBBC's Shaun the Sheep is up for best children and young people's programme.
One in five of the 40 nominations are from the UK, matching last year's tally. The UK went on to win in seven of the eight categories, including best drama series for The Street and best TV movie/miniseries for More 4's Death of a President.
Among the 16 countries nominated, Brazil has five nominations, Argentina and Japan have four apiece and China and Denmark have three. Peru and Jordan are in the running for the first time.
The nominations also include Endemol's controversial show for Dutch network BNN, The Big Donor Show, which is up for best nonscripted entertainment show.
The hoax reality show purported to invite viewers to vote on who should donate a kidney to a terminally ill woman. The programme was later revealed to be a fake designed to raise awareness of the shortage of donors.
The winners will be announced on 24 November in New York.
