Format Focus: Who is the Chef?

Contestants must identify the real chef from a group of amateurs in this new food-based gameshow.

The format
Who is the Chef? features four strangers who take it in turns to host a dinner party in their own homes that is attended by all of the other contestants. The twist to the setup is that one of them is a professional chef while the others are amateur cooks.

The three amateurs have no idea who is the professional. Each must cook their best meal to convince the others they are the real chef. On the other hand, the professional must find a way to not be identified, while also not underperforming in  the task.

After the dinner parties are finished, the four contestants meet at the restaurant where the pro works to make their final decision as to who they believe is the chef. Whoever gets it right wins a dinner worth €250.

However, the pro will also name who he or she believes was the best amateur and they are given the chance to work for one day in the kitchen with the -professional chef.

Who's showing it?
The format was developed by RTL Nederland Productions BV and launched on RTL4 in Holland on 30 June.

Coming to the UK?
The international rights on the format have yet to be picked up but RTL Nederland is in talks with a major distributor.

Could it work here?
Sounds a bit like Channel 4's Come Dine With Me meets global reality series The Mole. Both series have had multiple recommissions and Who is the Chef? could prove equally popular.
