Contestants can stay in their home town to compete in a new gameshow from the US.
The format
From the executive producer behind My Dad is Better Than Your Dad, comes what is dubbed as "the world's first mobile gameshow".
Smartest Guy in Town has shunned the traditional studio setting by taking the gameshow to the contestants, travelling to small towns around the globe.
The 29 contestants are nominated by the local community and are quickly whittled down to nine through a series of multiple choice questions.
The remaining competitors face three sets of challenges, based on general knowledge questions. In the final round, the action moves to the town square where the whole community cheers on their favourite competitor. A series of questions determines who calls himself the smartest guy in town.
Who's showing it?
The format has been developed by Hotchkiss Industries and has yet to be picked up by broadcasters.
Coming to the UK?
Passion Distribution has the international rights and will showcase the property at Mipcom in October.
Could it work here?
Maybe - and it could tick some boxes regarding regional output.
