A reality format with a twist helps disabled people find love.
The format
Love at Second Sight is a reality dating show where all the participants seeking love have a disability.
They could be blind, deaf or wheelchair-bound and encounter more hurdles than most in the pursuit of love because of their disabilities. The heart of the show is helping them overcome these obstacles.
The programme introduces five participants and reveals more about who they are before discussing what each is looking for in a partner.
They each spend one afternoon assessing letters written by potential partners and then have to choose four potential dates.
A series of elimination rounds then follow as the love-seekers go on trips to get to know each other better. When one possible partner is selected, a dream date is arranged - before the final review when they decide if this new relationship is going to last.
Who's showing it?
The format was developed by All3Media-owned IDTV, the Netherlands' second largest indie, and has broadcast on SBS6 in the Netherlands.
Coming to the UK?
The worldwide rights are owned by All3Media International, which is in talks with broadcasters in a number of territories.
Could it work here?
If you can look beyond the "blind date" headlines, strong characters could capture audience interest.
