BBC Worldwide Americas has scored its biggest ever programming deal in Paraguay at its annual showcase in Latin America.
Telefutoro, one of Paraguay's leading broadcasters, and new channel Hispanoamerica TV del Paraguay have acquired a combined total of 100 hours of programming from BBCW including natural history, children's, history and factual entertainment programmes.
Telefutoro picked up the natural history titles Planet Earth and Killing for a Living. The latter was a BBC Worldvision production in association with the Discovery Channel and is narrated by actor, Anthony Hopkins.
A third title picked up by the broadcaster was the animated children's series Animalia, which is based on the award-winning books by Graeme Base.
Hispanoamerica bought the drama-documentary series Ancient Rome – The Fall and Rise of an Empire, plus the Days that Shook the World, a series of programmes which focus on key events which changed the course of history.
BBC Showcase Latin America 2008 wraps up tomorrow (10 September) in Rio De Janeiro.
