Content Focus: Ibiza

A new tie-in site will offer viewers of Living's Ibiza updates from the dancefloors of San Antonio.

The format
Web production company Magic Lantern's online spin-off show, created for Virgin Media TV, features summer 2008 on Ibiza, using short-form content filmed on location.

Commissioned to support the Living observational documentary series Ibiza, the web films will update viewers on club nights and DJs from the floors of some of the best nightspots in Ibiza, in conjunction with production company Original Productions. It will also look at the indie circuit of San Antonio and focus on some of the characters living on the island.

Virgin Media TV digital creative head Tanya Carus Blacher says: "Ibiza's fast turnaround, telling the story of summer 2008 as it unfolds, coupled with its young target audience, made it essential that it was a truly cross-platform commission."

As well as livingtv.co.uk, the web content will air on Bebo and Facebook, incorporating production logos and branding. It will also feature on YouTube and MySpace channels and a Flickr page. The online presence aims to drive viewers to livingtv.co.uk and to the show which will be broadcast on Living.

Magic Lantern managing director Richard Ayers says: "Ibiza is the ultimate hotspot for chic island adventurers and hedonistic revelry and the content will reflect this. It's refreshing to work with a multiplatform company which really understands the benefits of 360-degree commissioning."

Who's behind it?
Magic Lantern, Virgin Media TV and Original Productions.

Why does it suit the format?
The audience is into this lifestyle 24 hours a day and will be looking for the latest news when they're not clubbing - and clubbers who can't make it get a glimpse of what they're missing.
