Endemol has hired former LoveFilm chief executive Adam Valkin as its global head of digital media and new business.
Valkin will be based in Endemol UK's London office and will be responsible for overseeing and driving Endemol's global digital media activities including identifying, acquiring and developing businesses in new growth areas.
The company's international digital teams, including the UK business headed by Peter Cowley, will report into Valkin.
He is currently a partner in Arts Alliance, where he has spent nine years investing in and developing digital media businesses such as LoveFilm, Propertyfinder, mobile games group Player X and video clip website Blinkbox.
He was previously LoveFilm's chief executive and has also worked for US book retailer Barnes and Noble's web business and for internet software developer Firefly.
"Digital media is core to Endemol's business and an area where we see very significant opportunities for growth," said the company's chief executive officer Ynon Kreiz . "It is therefore essential that we have someone of Adam's calibre - with the experience, insight and contacts - to lead Endemol's global expansion in this space."
Kreiz created the role as part of a drive to reposition the company for future growth, which Endemol said was refelcted in Valkin's high profile. Global digital strategy was previously managedby Michiel Buitellar, who recently left the company.
Valkin will join Endemol on 1 September.
