A spin-off from Bebo drama The Secret World of Sam King is poised to move onto TV.
Monkey Kingdom, the indie behind Sam King, is close to securing a broadcaster for a proposed music magazine format in which the fictional character Katie Love - King's love interest in the show - presides over a mix of established and unsigned artists.
Although Universal Music is co-producing the Bebo drama, the show would not exclusively feature acts from the label.
The favoured option is for a 30-minute show but Monkey Kingdom could produce a five-minute version of the show to drop into the schedules after US dramas, which typically run short of their 60-minute timeslots, even with advertising breaks.
"Five has been pleased with the performance of Bebo drama Sofia's Diary and wants more," said Monkey Kingdom managing director David Granger. "We're fairly far down the line in talks with both terrestrial and cable broadcasters."
The TV show would adapt a planned Bebo format, Katie's Love-In, which is due to have its own dedicated Bebo channel alongside the parent drama.
The Secret World of Sam King debuted on the social network last week and has attracted 4,217 'fans' to date.
