Ten Alps eyes more online TV

Ten Alps is eyeing more local authority online TV deals such as Kent TV after announcing stronger than expected results.

The company has increased revenue by 18% from £69m to £81.4m in the year to 31 March, with pre-tax profit of £3.15m, up 15% from £2.7m in the previous twelve months.

Public sector related business accounted for 45% of total business, with Kent TV (www.kenttv.com) pulling in 70,000 viewers by May, against a target of 50,000.

This strong performance, and a belief from Ten Alps that local authorities nationwide are investing significant amounts in media output, will see the company look to add to its Kent TV online TV service in the coming year.

Ten Alps already boasts 217 local authority print customers, which would provide a good base from which to develop further online TV propositions. Ten Alps' other public sector interests include the contract to operate Teachers TV until mid-2013 in a joint venture with ITN, with a further two year option to follow.
