BBC3's new factual series Britain's Missing Top Model strutted its stuff at 9pm last night in front of a solid 475,000 viewers (2.5%).
The 60-minute show, which features eight disabled women vying for a photoshoot in Marie Claire, began with 408,000 (2.2%) and steadily grew to a high of 525,000 (2.8%) in the final quarter of an hour.
The programme was up by 24.3% on the channel's slot average for the year so far of 382,000 (1.8%). Last year, the corporation's entertainment channel averaged 311,000 (1.6%) at that time.
None of the main multichannel offerings has much to smile about at the time and many struggled even to hit the 200,000 mark.
The strongest competition to BBC3 at the time came with the start of the third series of Ghost Whisperer on Living which wasn't too far off the pace with 425,000 (2.2%) in a similar 9pm slot. ITV2's film City Slickers also managed to break the 200,000 mark with 210,000 (1.3%) watching for just over two hours. Sky One's movie The Fugitive, also at 9pm, had 200,000 (1.3%).
E4's episode of Smallville at 9pm had 117,000 (0.6%) with an extra 27,000 watching on E4+1. BBC4 was in a slightly stronger position with What Happened Next? on 142,000 (0.8%). Film4's This is England signed up 171,000 (1.0%). Five US's film Gattaca impressed 103,000 (0.6%) with another 1,000 preferring to watch it on Five US+1.
