Australia's Network 10 has picked up the broadcast rights to the BBC1 fantasy drama Merlin from FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME).
The 13 x 60-minute series will launch on BBC1 in a primetime slot in September. Produced by Shine, the drama revisits the saga of Prince Arthur and the wizard Merlin. The story centres on the two characters as ambitious young men, set in the mythical city of Camelot.
David Ellender, chief executive at FME, said Merlin had the potential to draw a vast and demographically varied audience in Australia.
In addition to Australia, FME recently closed pre-sales with US broadcaster NBC, which plans to broadcast the series in winter 2009, and CTV in Canada.
