Women in Film and TV names chair

Trade body Women in Film and Television has appointed April Chamberlain as its new chair.
Chamberlain, who is the managing director of The Comedy Unit, began her TV career as business manager for BBC Scotland's comedy department. After three years she left the corporation to become a founding member of the Comedy Unit with Colin Gilbert.
Chamberlain said: "I am thrilled to be taking over as Chair of WFTV at what is undoubtedly a vitally important time for women in the industry. These are tough times and WFTV is needed more than ever, but they are also exciting times and I am looking forward to doing my bit to develop and extend the work we do to support and celebrate women in the TV, film and digital media industries."
The previous chair of WFTV was Sophie Balhetchet.
WFTV has also named Alison Small as the organisation's vice-chair, who is a senior executive a the UK Film Council. She will work alongside the body's other vice-chair Lyn Burgess.
