The BBC has ordered a two-part crime drama that tells the story from various perspectives, including those investigating the crime, the killer and his victims.
Blood Rush will be produced in-house and was written by Bafta winner Barbara Machin. She said the technique was designed to show that “there's always more than one perspective to a crime".
Commissioned by BBC controller of fiction Jane Tranter, the show stars Louise Lombard (The House Of Eliott) who heads up the crime team and is back at work after the suspicious death of her child. Danny Dyer (The Football Factory) plays Matt Costello her loyal second-in-command.
The plot focuses on a killer who has killed once and kidnapped another victim. The drama unfolds through the eyes of different characters, flipping backwards and forwards in time.
The show is being filmed on location in Bristol, is being produced by Jane Stevenson (Casualty) and directed by Paul Unwin (Messiah), with Patrick Spence executive producing.
