Ford Ennals has quit as chief executive of Digital UK, the group charged with leading digital switchover.
Ennals is to leave in February to join sportswear firm Nike in the US where he will become president of the group's footwear and leather goods division. He previously spent a seven year stint in the US working for Mars and Reebok.
In a letter to staff he said "There is never a good time to leave a business you love but I do take comfort that digital switchover is right on track and Digital UK is successful and stable."
The move comes just weeks after the first analogue signal was switched off. Digital UK is aiming to appoint Ennals replacement before he departs and is considering both internal and external candidates.
His departure follows that of Andy Townend, Digital UK's chief operating officer who left last July to head up the equivalent body Digital Australia.
