Daybreak Pictures has signed an output deal with acclaimed director Peter Kosminsky in which the drama specialist takes on his future development slate.
The terms of the deal mean any upcoming project Kosminsky works on will go out under the Daybreak Pictures banner.
“If Peter has a project in place, that means we have the opportunity to produce, executive produce or direct it,” Daybreak Pictures managing director and executive producer David Aukin told Broadcast.
As part of the deal, Kosminsky will also become a board member of Daybreak Pictures. The deal consolidates the existing close production relationship between Kosminsky and Daybreak Pictures co-executive producers Aukin and Hal Vogel.
Kosminsky and Aukin previously worked together on Mentorn’s Bafta-winning The Government Inspector for Channel 4.
They also collaborated on this week’s major C4 two-part drama Britz, a co-production between Daybreak Pictures and Stonehenge Films with Aukin and Vogel as co-executive producers.
Other projects Daybreak Pictures is planning with Kosminsky either as director, writer or executive producer include Terrorists, about the struggle of the suffragettes, and a drama on the Litvinenko poisoning, both for C4.
Separately, Daybreak Pictures is developing a film written by Paula Milne about the fall of Apartheid, also for C4.
