BBC Worldwide to entertain Malaysia
BBC Worldwide has launched an entertainment channel in Malaysia airing shows such as Doctor Who, Rebus and Extras.
BBC Entertainment, went live today on Astro, Malaysia's satellite platform. The channel, which launched in Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea in October, will specialise in drama, comedy and light entertainment, including Footballers' Wives, Waking the Dead, Suburban Shootout and My Family .
Christine Leo-McKerrow, senior vice president of global channels in Asia said: 'BBC Entertainment has had a great reception from both critics and viewers around the region, and we are sure viewers in Malaysia will respond in the same way.'
The move is part of BBC Worldwide's plan to introduce four new global channels. They are BBC Entertainment and BBC Lifestyle, which will replace the existing BBC Prime and BBC Food channel s respectively, plus BBC Knowledge and CBeebies.
