CelebAir takes off with 550,000

ITV2 took flight with the biggest multichannel show last night (2 September) as new reality series CelebAir delivered nearly 550,000 viewers.

The first instalment of the eight-part series, in which famous faces including X Factor contestant Chico and socialite Tamara Beckwith run an airline, drew 549,000 in the 9pm slot.

It saw off competition from Sky 1 drama Prison Break, which broke into its fourth series with 375,000 viewers. A half-hour repeat of Have I Got News For You at 9pm entertained 448,000 on Dave, while a two-hour repeat of Inspector Morse on ITV3 from 9.05pm picked up 475,000.

Over the 9pm hour, Living's US drama Ghost Whisperer spooked 366,000 while BBC3's Don't Tell the Bride delivered 262,000.

The new series of ITV2's half-hour comedy sketch show Katy Brand's Big Ass Show amused 161,000 viewers from 10pm. Earlier on the channel, movie Jurassic Park attracted an average audience of 361,000 from 6.35pm to 9pm.

Also starting at 6.30pm was Australian soap Home and Away, which pulled in 505,000 viewers over the half-hour episode. Then, at 7pm on E4, a half-hour instalment of Hollyoaks managed to draw 636,000 viewers.

Over the 8pm hour, new BBC3 series Driving Mum and Dad Mad recorded 285,000 viewers while Sky 1 drama Stargate Atlantis entertained 335,000 viewers.
