Her brief will be to work closely with the senior management team to help develop and produce a diverse range of programmes for the international marketplace.

Williams has worked in production at Granada Kids, Darrall Macqueen and Pearson Television and her credits include CITV shows My Parents are Aliens, Girls in Love and Pocoyo as well as CBBC's Bear Behaving Badly.

She also developed Five show Katie's Picture Show for New Moon Television.

Scottish-based animation specialist Red Kite's recent commissions include The Imp, a 65 x 1-minute series of animated shorts for Cartoon Network US and Disney Japan, co-produced with Spanish indie BRB.

Managing director and co-founder Ken Anderson said of Williams' appointment: “She will play a vital role in expanding our programming slate and will play a key part in driving the company forward and making our future plans a reality.”
