Ofcom considering Capital competition

Ofcom is looking into a Capital Radio competition that was reopened after the£155,000 winner of its “LondoniTest” phone-in competition was found to be ineligible.

The GCap Media-owned station informed the regulator after it discovered the winning entrant on Johnny Vaughan and Denise van Outen's breakfast show had breached its terms and conditions.

The London iTest requires listeners to correctly identify a mystery personality who is only identifiable by a recording of them saying the letter "I".

The competition, which was relaunched five days after it had been "won", is still ongoing.

A spokeswoman for Ofcom said the regulator was considering the details of the competition but was not making a formal investigation.
