Ofcom names new chairman
Bowe, who joined the Ofcom board in January and sits on its Audit Committee, will take over from David Currie in the£200,000 three-day-a-week role in the new year.
Currie steps down after six years in the role, which Bowe will occupy for a five year term.
Her career has included stints at the Department of Trade and Industry, the Independent Broadcasting Authority and the Personal Investment Authority.
Bowe was founding chairman of the Telecoms Ombudsman Council and chaired Ofcom's Consumer Panel from its inception in 2003 to December 2007.
She currently sits on the board of Morgan Stanley Bank International, Electra Private Equity, Axa Framlington, London and Continental Railways and the National Institute for Economic and Social Research.
Culture secretary Andy Burnham said: “Colette has the right mix of skills and experience for this role and I'm confident she also has the vision necessary to take Ofcom forward and tackle its future challenges."
