Working Title reveals TV plans

Working Title, the company behind hit movies such as Atonement and Bridget Jones' Diary, is planning a return to TV drama.

Co-founders Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner said they wanted to develop British projects with the international appeal of US shows such as Lost, 24 and Heroes.

“We want to use the Working Title brand for television and make use of the talent we have used on our films,” Bevan told The Times.

The company's first film, My Beautiful Laundrette, was made for Channel 4 but was given a theatrical release and paved the way for a string of international box-office hits from Four Weddings and a Funeral to Hot Fuzz and United 93.

Bevan and Fellner are currently making a Hollywood version of BBC drama State of Play, starring Russell Crowe.

Last week, Atonement was named best drama motion picture at the Golden Globes and now leads the Bafta race with 14 nominations.
