Wayne Rooney will search for the country's best grass-roots footballer in a flagship show for Sky One.
The 3 x 60-minute Wayne Rooney's Street Striker will be shot in urban locations across the UK and will also give an insight into the England and Manchester United striker's life and off-pitch personality.
The show is being made by Plum Pictures, a factual indie set up last year by former BBC producers Stuart Cabb and Will Daws. Hat Trick Productions bought a stake in the firm just after its launch.
The show is based on the annual Coca-Cola Street Striker competition and auditions are currently taking place in which boys and girls are set different challenges.
Sky One will start its coverage with around 50 candidates and Rooney and a team of judges will then whittle them down for the second episode. The third part will focus on the two finalists going head to head to win a "fantastic" undisclosed prize.
A source close to the project said it will be a high-end show: "This series isn't about kids doing keepie uppies in the park. It's beautifully shot real street football."
The show was ordered by Donna Taberer, commissioning editor - entertainment and features, Sky One, Two and Three.
Cabb is the executive producer.
