BSkyB is considering a bid of more than £2m for Spanish pay-TV platform Digital Plus.
According to a report in the Financial Times, Digital Plus, which media giant Grupo Prisa is expected to auction this year, has been in the sights of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, which has a 39.1% stake in Sky. Grupo Prisa also owns Spanish newspaper El Pais.
However, it is understood no decision has been taken as to whether to proceed, but Sky's strong free cash flow could allow it to finance such a deal at a time when News Corp when is pursuing several other possible deals.
Other potential bidders are expected to include Vivendi, Telefónica, ONO and Orange, France Telecom's mobile arm.
