Ford homes in on Silver River C4 show

Bafta-winning executive producer Simon Ford is working on a show for Channel 4 about the UK's obsession with property.

The Price of Property is a 4 x 60-minute investigation being made by Daisy Goodwin's indie, Silver River. Ford said it would address "why property gets under our skin and what it has done to us as a nation". He said: "It looks into the old saying that an Englishman's home is his castle. Property prices have been getting higher and higher but it's an odd time now as things are starting to even out."

The Price of Property will be fronted by Guardian feature writer Jon Henley, who has missed out on the UK property price boom of recent years by living overseas for the majority of the past 20 years.

The show was ordered by documentaries commissioning editor  Meredith Chambers and will go out in late July.

Ford, who worked at the BBC for 20 years, is best known for having exec produced series such as The Secret Policeman and The Tower: A Tale of Two Cities, which won the best factual series Bafta this year. He said that he was enjoying freelancing on a number of projects in the independent sector while weighing up his next move.
