Horseracing TV rights body Racing UK has appointed former Transworld International chief operating officer Richard FitzGerald as chief executive.
He will replace Simon Bazalgette, who is leaving to join the Jockey Club as chief executive.
FitzGerald worked for 18 years at sports entertainment and media conglomerate IMG, which owns the TWI brand. He also headed TWI's new media operations and has sat on the boards of a range of sports media ventures such as Manhcester United Interactive and Sports News TV.
Former BBC Television managing director Will Wyatt, who wrote last year's BBC Trust report on the Queengate affair, will be acting chief executive until FitzGerald starts next month.
"Racing UK has positioned itself for significant growth in the future and carved out an important and innovative role in Horse Racing," said FitzGerald. "I look forward to working closely with the chairman, the Board, the racecourse shareholders and the management team to continue the successful development of Racing UK."
Racing UK recently opened up the bidding war for a new package of 10 of the UK's biggest horse races, to be known as the Sovereign Series.
