Former ITV chief executive Charles Allen has taken up his second non-executive TV directorship in a week – this time with Virgin Media.
Allen joins Virgin Media's board of directors along with John Rigsby, who until recently was president of Florida Group, part of Bright House Networks, a specialist in building fibre-optic networks for broadband, digital cable, HDTV and video-on-demand.
Earlier this week, Allen, who is also non-executive chairman of Global Radio, joined Endemol's shareholders committee as a non-executive director.
He was ITV chief executive from 2004 to 2006 after leading the merger of Granada and Carlton Communications to form the group.
Virgin Media chairman Jim Mooney said of his new signings: "We have added further world class experience and expertise to our team. Charles brings unrivalled experience in the UK media sector from his 15 years leading the UK's key commercial broadcast companies and John brings extensive experience from both the telecoms and cable sectors."
