The BBC has hired Century Films head of development Tim Wardle to head its in-house documentary development slate.
Wardle - one of this year's Broadcast Hot Shots - joins the corporation this month as BBC factual head of documentary development. Reporting to head of London Factual Karen O'Connor, he will work with in-house documentary makers to develop ideas for all BBC TV channels.
He replaces one of last year's Broadcast Hot Shots, Joe Evans, who recently joined Southern Star Factual as head of development.
Wardle, 29, was at Century for six years and recently made his first documentary, In Search of Mr Average, which aired in C4's First Cuts strand earlier this year.
Century managing director Brian Hill said: "Tim is full of ideas and enthusiasm and can also relate to the world of youth culture."
