ITV's outgoing director of entertainment and comedy, Paul Jackson, is being wooed by ITV Productions, which hopes to secure him when he leaves his current role.
In September, Jackson announced he was leaving ITV in December to follow a career in production. Speaking to Broadcast on Wednesday (29 October), Jackson confirmed he's been courted for a role at ITVP. "I genuinely have not decided what I am doing yet. I definitely want to go into production, but I want to make sure that I go with the right partner for what I want to achieve," he said.
Asked about ITVP's approach, Jackson said: "The problem is not money, it's about the terms on offer."
Securing Jackson would be a boon for ITVP, which will bolster its entertainment slate next year with The Krypton Factor and the gameshow The Colour of Money.
Jackson has commissioned some of ITV's biggest entertainment hits such as The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent.
He had previously expressed hope that ITVP will produce a second series of drama Britannia High for ITV1, but admitted that the premiere last Sunday, which drew 3.3 million and a share of 14.4%, was "disappointing".
