Chris Curtis has been named the new editor of Broadcast.

Curtis has worked on the brand for seven years, joining as news editor and becoming deputy editor in 2010.

He will take over as editor from Lisa Campbell who leaves next month to become director of the Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Curtis has led Broadcast’s news coverage across both print and online, managing its team of reporters. He has also already played a key role developing its awards, conferences and events such as the Business Breakfast Club, Commissioning & Funding Forum and the Production & Post Forum.

Curtis said: “It’s a pleasure to take on the leadership of Broadcast. Lisa has been a great editor and I look forward to building on the brand’s strengths.

“One of my aims is to make Broadcast a truly digital product, offering new and innovative types of content. We want to get closer to our readers and deliver a broad and unparalleled range of business information about the TV market.”

Plans include the introduction of new company-specific areas on broadcastnow.co.uk and the launch of a tablet app, as well as supercharging Broadcast’s face-to-face events.

Broadcast is published by Media Business Insight, and chief executive Conor Dignam said: “Chris will be an outstanding editor of Broadcast. He is a natural leader and has his finger on the pulse of what matters to the broadcasting sector.

“He has also exciting plans for developing Broadcast’s digital operation and building on the great work that he and Lisa have done over the last few years.”

Curtis has been a journalist for 14 years, specialising in b2b. He has previously covered the hospitality sector for Centaur Communications and the fashion industry for Emap’s Drapers.
