Pocoyo makes terrestrial move to Five

Five has acquired the terrestrial rights to hit CITV pre-school show Pocoyo. [ALL]

Five has acquired the terrestrial rights to hit CITV pre-school show Pocoyo.

The broadcaster has picked up the rights to the first series and the upcoming second series, both 52 x 7-minutes, of the CGI animated show.

The show, which is a co-production between Spanish producer Zinkia Entertainment and Granada International, will continue to air on the CITV channel.

Five will air Pocoyoexclusively in its Milkshake strand from early 2008, running it in slots between 6am and 9am on weekdays and 6am to 10am at the weekends.

CITV will have exclusive rights to air the show outside of these times.

The first series of Pocoyopreviously aired on ITV1's weekday CITV strand but moved exclusively to the CITV channel when ITV cut back its kids programming hours.

Five director of children's programming Nick Wilson said: ' Pocoyois an exceptional pre-school series that will sit comfortably in Five's Milkshake block. We are very pleased to be able to introduce the show to even more children and parents as a result of this important collaboration with CITV.'

Production on the second series of Pocoyohas just completed.
