Chris Tarrant is hoping to break back into radio as the host of a new quiz show to be aired on UBC-owned Classic Gold later this month.

The ex-Capital Radio DJ and host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?is to present Small Price 2 Pay - Big Nightlive every Sunday for four weeks from 25 February, between 7pm and 10pm.

Tarrant is said to be keen on having a bigger radio presence during 2007, and is also developing a weekly show, aimed at listeners over 30, with his former Capital Radio producer Sarah Jane Eddon.

The Classic Gold quiz is a text auction and UBC hopes Tarrant will drive more people on to digital radio, because the competition can only be accessed through a DAB radio set. The station's normal Sunday programme will continue to run on AM, Sky and the internet.

Classic Gold head of programmes Bill Overton said: 'Commercial radio has been a poorer place without Chris. There just isn't anyone better when it comes to presenting this kind of show.'
