Lee Bartlett is to succeed Dawn Airey as ITV managing director of global content.
The appointment, predicted by Broadcast, will see Bartlett take on responsibility for the broadcaster's UK and international production and distribution businesses, including ITV Productions.
Bartlett joined ITV global content as chief operating officer at the start of April and has been interim managing director since 29 April, when Airey made her surprise move to Five.
His previous role was at Fox Broadcasting where he managed Fox's production and business affairs departments, overseeing a programme budget of $1 billion. He was also largely responsible for overseeing the business relationship with the partners involved in American Idol. The show is Fox's most important television asset and America's top programme.
Bartlett will report to ITV chief operating officer John Cresswell, who said: "The appointment of Lee on a permanent basis really does put the "global" into global content. To meet the objectives of the turnaround plan and deliver 360 degree value to our content properties, we need executives with proven experience of the international market."
He said the appointment followed a "thorough executive search process".
