Dawn is done

In Dawn Porter's last blog from LA, the presenter reflects on her time filming new documentary series Extreme Wife for Channel 4.

Seeing as production has finished and all I have to write about now are the stressful and often emotional edits, I think I should close my blog here, and recap on the happenings of the last few months.

So much has happened. Arriving into LAX and hopping into my shiny red Mustang feels like over a decade ago. Since then, my life in LA has seen me through a run in with the law, a couple of exciting crushes, a rather sole destroying vaginal examination, and the conquering of my very own mountain.

And that is aside from the actual making of Extreme Wife in which I trained as a Geisha, tried out as a Mormon sister wife, posed as a Russian mail order bride, and had a non penetrative, but highly arousing greased up and naked romp in a boxing ring with a small group of German strangers.

Needless to say, I feel like I have been through quite a lot... but what fun.

In case you need reminding, this all came about when a tall posh guy (TPG) called Simon Andreae offered me this opportunity last November. I thought the idea of Extreme Wife - living as a different sort of spouse in different cultures - was fascinating, and kind of my dream job. So without much hesitation, I jumped at the chance and never looked back.

TPG and I then took on Charlie Siskel, a series producer with exquisite taste whose skill and charm still astound me daily.

I was also lucky enough to get my AP from the Dirty Dancing doc I did for Five, Michelle Crowther. Her work with gaining access and dealing with contributors was an unbelievable feat. I often think that AP's get the hardest job and the least recognition, so here is my chance to say, well done and thank you Michelle, we couldn't have done it without you.

It was quite a team, and the process, although not always smooth has been a learning process of invaluable consequence for me. Thanks guys!

Right then, so I guess it is time for this little Hot Patootie to sign off. I can't deny that it took me a while to warm to LA, but it is true what they say - California Soul gets you in the end.

So hold tight, Los Angeles, because in the words of the big man, I'll be back!

Enjoy the series and thanks for reading.
