Van Outen and Vaughan to team up again

Van Outen:reunited with old sparring partner

Denise Van Outen is to link up with her old Big Breakfast presenting partner Johnny Vaughan as a co-host of his Capital 95.8 breakfast show.

Van Outen is understood to be in final negations to take up the role and a GCap Media insider said an announcement was imminent.

In the last set of Rajars, Vaughan's breakfast show was edged into second place by Magic's Neil Fox, who occupied the top commercial radio spot with 885,000 listeners. He was 5,000 listeners ahead of Vaughan.

Panmure Securities analyst Alex de Groote said he felt Van Outen was "past her sell-by date", but that the appointment was likely to have a "modestly positive" impact on audience figures.

Vaughan has already had two co-presenters since he began presenting the breakfast show in 2004. The most recent was was Zoe Hanson, who left last year. The first was Becky Jago.

A spokeswomen for Capital Radio declined to comment.
