Whale back on radio with LBC

Controversial talk show host James Whale will return to mainstream radio next month by presenting a week of late-night shows on LBC 97.3.

Whale will stand in for regular host Clive Bull, presenting six live phone-in shows from 10pm-1am each night from Sunday 17 August.

The veteran broadcaster was fired earlier this year by speech radio station Talk Sport for breaching rules on impartiality in the run-up to the London mayoral elections.

It will be the second time Whale has presented on LBC 97.3, having hosted a week of weekend afternoon shows in 1994.

Meanwhile, former London mayor Ken Livingstone will begin hosting his own LBC 97.3 weekend talk radio show from Saturday 30 August. Livingstone will broadcast his show live from 10am–2pm, having stood in for regular afternoon host Jeni Barnett earlier this summer.

"I'm really looking forward to having my own show on LBC 97.3," said Livingstone. "Let's be honest, a week of Nick Ferrari presenting the breakfast show can only be cured by a morning of Ken."
