James Whale drops Talk Sport legal action

Ex-Talk Sport presenter James Whale has dropped his legal action over his controversial dismissal from the broadcaster earlier this year.

Whale, whose contract was terminated after he urged listeners to vote for Boris Johnson in the London mayoral election, said he did not have the cash-flow pursue the unfair dismissal claim against the UTV-owned radio station.

Broadcast previously revealed that Whale had lodged two separate complaints.

A spokesperson for UTV Radio said: "We are pleased that all legal proceedings against Talk Sport and UTV Radio have been withdrawn by James Whale and can confirm that no payment of any kind has been made."

Whale, who will join Global Radio-owned talk station LBC as its new drivetime presenter in November, worked for Talk Sport and its previous version, Talk Radio, for 13 years.
