BBC1 caper beats ITV1 thriller

Lucy Gannon's thriller The Children continued to prove a major attraction for viewers on ITV1 last night (8 September) but was again trumped by BBC1's caper drama New Tricks.
The second instalment of The Children, which comes to a close next week, managed to deliver 4.7m (20.1% share) in its 9pm slot, down a fraction from the 4.9m (20%) it recorded for the opening episode.
But the second episode of New Tricks delivered a robust 5.5m (23.4%) over the hour at 9pm, down from the 6m (25%) it entertained for the debut of series three last week.
The sixth series of Dragons' Den came to a close with a strong 3.7m (15.9%) in the 9pm slot, while new Channel 4 series The Price of Property entertained 1.2m (5.1%).
Five's travelogue series Extreme Fishing With Robson Green dipped slightly to 1.1m (4.8%), down from the 1.2m (5%) with which it debuted last week.
BBC1's new series The Dark Side of Fame with Piers Morgan delivered 1.9m (14%) from 10.35pm to 11.20pm, featuring Pamela Anderson.
ITV1 screened David Lynch movie Blue Velvet from 10.35pm to 12.50am, delivering 0.9m (10.5%), while C4 aired black comedy film Keeping Mum from 10pm, recording 1.3m (8.7%) over two hours.
BBC2's Newsnight managed 0.8m (6.1%) from 10.30pm to 11.20pm and Bob Monkhouse's Comedy Heroes managed 0.4m (2.4%) for Five over 65-minutes from 10pm.
