Viewers make Rick and Steve happy

E4's new tongue-in-cheek animation Rick and Steve: the Happiest Gay Couple in All the World seduced 144,000 viewers (1.10%) in a late night 10.30pm slot.
The show, which features three gay couples and a stream of risqué jokes, gained a further 104,000 on E4+1 an hour later.
The show was a smidgen under the channel's slot average for the year so far of 149,000 (0.92%).
While not bringing in huge ratings, the show was a big hit with both upmarket and younger viewers. Some 48.9% of its audience came from the ABC1 demographic, while 55.3% were aged between 16 and 34.
Rick and Steve were given a helping hand earlier on at 10pm as E4's Fonejacker was welcomed back for a new run with a sizeable 417,000 (2.47%) and another 136,000 watching on the timeshifted option E4+1.
But BBC3's film National Treasure dominated multichannel viewing for the second time in four days.
The two hour movie at 9pm last night pulled in a sizeable 776,000 (4.4%). Only three days previously (14 September) it gained 782,000 (3.9%) on the same channel at the slightly earlier time of 7pm.
BBC4, ITV2 and ITV4 all offered up films in peaktime. Mission Impossible 2 on ITV2 had 275,000 (1.68%) and a further 43,000 on ITV2+1. ITV4's O Brother, Where Art Thou? at 10pm appealed to 124,000 (1.2%). BBC4's French movie L'Enfant was less popular at 10pm with 54,000 (0.4%).
Sky offered up live Champions League football action on two of its sports channels. Manchester United took on Villareal on Sky Sports 2 and gained a strong 640,000 (3.78%) for four hours between 6pm and 11pm. Sky Sports 3 aired Arsenal's game against Dynamo Kiev between 7.30pm and 10pm was supported by 190,000 (0.98%).
