I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! hit a peak last night of 9m viewers (36.9% share) as former politician Robert Kilroy-Silk was the first to leave the jungle.
The 90-minute edition of the reality show, that sees a variety of celebrities endure life in the Australian jungle including the infamous Bushtucker Trials, averaged a sizeable 8.7m (35.9%) between 8.30pm and 10pm, completely flattening the opposition.
The show was up by a sizeable 93.3% on the channel's slot average for the year so far of 4.5m (19.1%).
BBC1 was unable to put up much resistance. The second outing of Wild about Your Garden at 8.30pm only interested 2.4m (10.1%) for half an hour, down by 700,000 on last week.
The corporation's channel improved slightly at 9pm but a repeat of New Tricks could only manage 3.7m (15.4%) for an hour.
The Devil's Whore, Channel 4's current drama series took a tumble at 9pm as the 70-minute episode appealed to 1.9m (7.9%). Another 130,000 watched the same episode at 10pm on C4+1. Last week's opening episode attracted 2.7m (12%) for 80-minutes at 9pm.
Slightly further down the field was BBC2's Heroes on 1.7m (6.8%) for 45-minutes. Five's Dangerous Adventures for Boys found itself in rather hot water at 9pm as just 621,000 (2.6%), in the same slot.
Combat Chefs
Five was in a much stronger position at 8pm with its new documentary series Combat Chefs picking up 1.1m (4.5%) for an hour. The final part of Axe Men last week, in the same slot had 987,000 (4.2%).
The Five show though couldn't get the better of its nearest rivals.
C4's The Home Show interested 1.3m (5.6%) over an hour with 95,000 watching on C4+1. BBC2's Oceans continued its steady performance with 2.4m (10.1%).
BBC1's Charles Dickens adaptation Little Dorrit fell to its lowest audience yet at 8pm with the half hour drama picking up just 2.6m (11.1%).
The BBC1 show faced overwhelming opposition though in the face of an hour-long special edition of Coronation Street which averaged 9.3m (40.6%) from 7.30pm.
