Brief Complete visual effect shots on a series that tells the entire 400-year history of America.

How it was done Among hundreds of shots, Lola recreated the construction of Mount Rushmore (pictured) with composites of stone masons shot in a quarry in South Africa, layered onto the national monument.

A selection of NYC city builds were constructed in CG by Grahame Andrew. These models allowed for a seamless sequence of the evolution of NYC’s development that show the rapid changes wrought on the landscape as NYC developed from fields back in the 1800’s through to the sprawling vibrant  metropolis that it became and continues to be.

Other work included the depiction of whaling ships and dropping in whales into the shots; the War of Independence and the Civil War; discovery of the oil fields and  development of the automobile industry; and all the landmark events and stepping stones of invention that made the US.

3D was done in XSI and compositing in Flame, Shake and Nuke.

Each episode required 200 days and up to 12 artists to complete.
